Gratitude Reminders to Boost Your Happiness
Take a look at these gratitude reminders that take virtually no time and can easily be incorporated into your daily life. Why gratitude reminders you might ask. Reminding ourselves, every day, of all the things we are truly grateful for, supports us in focusing on the positive aspects of our lives. We get caught up in our day to day hassle and our minds are usually occupied with what needs to get done, what is bothering us and unresolved issues. Before we know, the wrinkle between our eyes is there to stay and we have a frown on our face without even realizing it.
We tend to forget the positive sides of life when we are angry, frustrated or just sad and our thoughts and temperament reflect that. Being positive is however the most important ingredient in finding solutions to your problems. So when you are faced with what seem like enormous challenges, turn up your positivity with gratitude reminders and open your mind to creative solutions.
First, is the pebble in the pocket technique
This is a classic and involves a pebble and a pocket. Just keep a special gratitude pebble in your pocket, all the time. When you find your fingers touching it, think about one thing you are grateful for.
Second is the pebbles in the jar technique
Decide how many gratitude thoughts you want to think each day and gather the same amount of pebbles. Keep a jar in sight throughout the day and put one pebble in the jar for each gratitude thought. Empty the jar at night and begin again next morning.
The third technique is your evening routine
Place a post-it where you will see it before you tuck in with the following questions: What touched me today? Who or what inspired me today? What made me smile today and What’s the best thing that happened today?
Finally we have fingers of gratitude
Ok, this one needs some preparation. Make a list with three columns. First column is for all the big and small things you are grateful for in your life. Second is for all your big and small achievements. The third column is for all your strengths, skills and good qualities. Just writing this list is a major happiness booster. Keep this list handy and read it every now and then.
This last gratitude reminders technique, the fingers of gratitude method, involves this list. When you need a happiness injection just stop and try to recall at least three things from each column. Put out nine fingers and count down.
I know it can be difficult to shift a negative mind to gratefulness but give it try. Pebbles in the pocket, pebbles in the jar, an evening gratitude routine or fingers of gratitude. Pick one and give it a try.
